Happy is a very sweet little 2 year old Husky/Shepherd who has a wonderful story of being rescued just days before Christmas last year but since she is a Shepherd mix looking for a home through a purebred German Shepherd rescue group she has not yet found her forever family.
This is Happy’s story… we know that a girl with a special story like this has someone special just waiting to find her… Won’t you please help pass it on and let’s get this girl to her new forever family soon!!!
Have you ever asked yourself, "What is it worth to be "Happy"?
Well, last Christmas a small group of people, each with large hearts, put their heads together to come up with an answer.
An answer that was life changing.
An answer that was life saving.
But they needed to act quickly as time was not on their side and the odds were not in their favor.
Meanwhile, a young, hungry, lost, confused dog sat quietly in her shelter cell. "Where am I?", she wondered. "Why am I here?". "What did I do to deserve this?". "What is going to happen to me?".
A shelter volunteer noticed "Happy" first.
She knew only too well that this dog's time was up. Just as she had seen the hundreds before Happy killed in this horrible place. She told a fellow volunteer and together they put a plea out for help to a rescue group. The rescue group listened and a rescue volunteer was recruited. A plan was taking shape. A vet was contacted. A boarding facility was hired. Funds were donated. A transport that spanned 2 states and over 700 miles was set up. "Happy" was pulled from her spot on death row.
This was going to be a Christmas miracle.
This was going to be "Happy's" miracle!
I am Happy's foster mom. I was one of the "group" involved in her rescue. I can speak for the entire "group" when I say she was WORTH every effort invested.
Happy has an eager little face. An adorable, happy wagging tail. And loves to heave sighs of contentment. Happy is good with my small children and she likes other dogs after a proper introduction. Happy grins from ear to ear while listening to you tell her how pretty and good she is!
She does not sleep as much during the day as my shepherds do. But instead of pestering me for attention she goes about her "business" on her own. She loves to shred and/or chew dog toys so I keep lots on hand for her. Her other favorite activity is in window-watching. She looks SO cute perched in front of the window on my bed or on a chair just looking out the window enjoying the birds, squirrels, or anything else going on! Oh, and you can throw away that nasty fly-swatter, she loves chasing bugs too and will take care of them for you. Happy is extremely agile and can scale almost anything. For this talent she will require a 6 ft. privacy fence to contain her safely while she is out. She is people-friendly and with a proper introduction will accept new dogs into her pack as I have had several fosters come and go around here! She loves her crate and goes in and out of it as she pleases. She never makes a single sound at night.
I can tell Happy truly has an appreciation for life and is ready to begin a new one herself. She is a medium size Husky/Shepherd mix weighing about 45 lbs. She is skilled at communicating on a human level… that is vocally. But she is not a barker, a yapper, or a whinner either! Happy is independent yet easily "persuaded" by food! She enjoys calm, quiet, light-handed affection. She would like to learn some basic commands and go for daily walks as she is still a very young dog… only about two years old. But most of all she just wants a family of her own to love her for the rest of her life.
Are you the answer to last question left in Happy's life? What does her future hold for her now?
Happy is currently living north of Dallas but please don’t let that be an issue if she sounds like the special pup you have been looking for! We can work something out!
