Mom keeps a running list in her head of items animal shelters usually need, and compares it to whatever we have lying around here that we aren't using or don't need. She hasn't actually made a donation yet but she was sure kicking herself earlier this week when she noticed "newspaper" listed on a shelter's wish list of items.
I can't tell you how much newspaper we threw out last week- everything had been packed with it before our move. Mom tried to think of an alternative but didn't come up with any ideas so she just neatly folded and contained all of it for trash day.
Too little, too late she sees that list. She's been kicking herself ever since.
So, if you subscribe to a daily paper and have no use for it after reading, why not save yours in stacks of a reasonable size and make a trip down to a shelter near you?
